A building on my block just exploded. More news in a bit.
Update: ok, still not certain what happened, but basically my housemates and I were sitting in the back yard when a mushroom-esque fireball roughly 50 feet high erupted and lit the brooklyn skyline. It was about thirty yards from our back porch and then we saw that the corner building was on fire. At first we thought it was a gas-main eruption, but once we got onto our roof we noticed that firemen were working on the rooftop of the building that was on fire. At ground level there were burning automobiles and smoke bellowing out of the street.
No mention of it in the news...

Glad to hear you're ok at least. Your post had me worried.
Yeah, still in one piece, but a little annoyed that there hasn't been any news about it...
that *is* strange
I found out this evening that it was a transformer that exploded. It set a car on fire and burned the front of one of the homes on the corner. Scary stuff!
